Hohyun Yoon
I am an incoming Scholarly Assistant Professor in the School of Politics, Philosophy, and Public Affair at Washington State University. Previously, I was the postdoctoral fellow at the Christopher H. Browne Center for International Relations at the University of Pennsylvania. I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2024.
I specialize in International Relations with a focus on elite psychology and emotions. My book project investigates how leaders’ expressions of anger during international crises shape bargaining dynamics, using both observational and experimental data. The project is based on my dissertation, which has won the Kenneth N. Waltz Dissertation Award from the American Political Science Association and an honorable mention for the Best Dissertation Award from the International Society of Political Psychology.
Besides psychology and emotions, I am also broadly interested in international security, cooperation, and alliances. My work has been published at the American Journal of Political Science and Journal of Conflict Resolution.
